As amateur astronomers advance in their astro-imaging skills, they dream of owning a Ritchey-Chretien telescope. RC telescopes are being used in some of the world’s biggest and best observatories due to their color-free, coma-free, spherical aberration-free optics. The problem is, Ritchey-Chretien telescopes are out of the reach of most people due to their high price tag…until now!
Please Note:The Orion 6" RC in the video above is manufactured by GSO and has identical specifications and features.
Guan Sheng Optical of Taiwan has been creating affordable imaging telescopes for several years. After the huge success of their imaging Newtonians, they turned their attention to creating a high quality Ritchey-Chretien at a more reasonable price. Now serious astro-imagers can choose from closed tube or open tube RC telescopes in a wide range of apertures!
This GSO Ritchey-Chretien has 6” of aperture and a focal ratio of f/9. The primary & secondary mirrors are made of BK7 glass which is coated with aluminum that has a 96% reflective surface. The aluminum is then over coated with quartz. This high reflectivity coating offers higher contrast images and protection against scratching.
Inside the 6” RC metal OTA is a Knife-Edge Baffle System whose only job is to keep stray light out of the telescope’s interior. Stray light eats contrast for breakfast (or a late night snack), and is therefore our enemy. The addition of a dew shield (sold separately) will help further defeat stray light, we recommend picking one up. The OTA mounts easily to a variety of mounts that accept Vixen-style dovetails. Simply remove the dovetail if you choose to mount the telescope via cradle rings.
A high quality 2” dual speed Crayford linear bearing focuser comes standard with the GSO 6” f/9 Ritchey, and you'll also get a 2" to 1.25" adapter. One thing that really sets this telescope apart from Schmidt-Cassegrains, even though it looks like one, is the lack of image shift. In SCT’s, the focuser moves the mirror forward and back on a rail, and it is this movement that can cause image shift. The mirror of the GSO 6” RC is fixed into place, similar to that of a Newtonian…it is not connected to the focuser in any way. Removing this connection removes image shift…voila! To collimate the RC, adjustments are made to the secondary mirror.
Introducing iOptron’s new compact next-generation center-balance equatorial mounts the CEM26!
iOptron CEM26 quiet slewing at MAX speed of 6º/sec:
Like their predecessors, the CEM26 is designed with portability in mind, weighing in at only 10 lbs it can support up to a 26lb payload an incredible 2.6 mount weight to payload ratio. The key to enable such ratios is the CEM design focuses the mount and payload weight directly on the center of the tripod rendering “natural stability”.
Building on the legacy of earlier CEM models we have added features for convenience and functionality. A positive lock gear engagement system (easy to use even when wearing gloves), Built-in Wi-Fi enabling unparallel connectivity and recordable permanent periodic error correction (PPEC) to repeat optimal PEC training sessions. Regarding functionality the CEM26 delivers precise pointing and accurate tracking. The CEM26 sets the new standard for compact equatorial mounts.
The center-balanced design mount puts the weight of the payload at the center of gravity allowing for greater natural stability. Other features include an adjustable counterweight bar to prevent obstruction with the tripod. And polar aligning is quick and accessible all the time since the polar scope is not blocked by the declination shaft.
The CEM26 is equipped with the latest advanced GOTONOVA® GOTO technology, making it one of the most powerful and accurate GOTO mounts available. Its database includes over 212,000+ objects. The Go2Nova® Hand Controller is intuitive to use and its large 4-line LCD screen simplifies the process of setting telescopes and locating objects.
The CEM26 mount either has an AccuAlignTM optical polar scope or an integrated electronic polar finder scope known as the iPolar (depending on option). iPolar ensures the accurate alignment of a telescope, even when the pole star is obscured.
iOptron iPolarTM - the smart electronic polarscope for everyone (Optional)

Note: The above GSO RC Manual is made by iOptron for their Phtron series RC telescopes. Other than cdifferent color and logo, almost all aspects of the telescope OTA and accessories are the same.
GSO is a leader in optical telescopes and accessories and their products have been sold for years by the "Big Three" (Meade, Celestron and Orion) under their own brand names. GSO telescopes and accessories are also sold under different names world-wide; Zhumell (USA), Apertura (USA), TPO (USA), Teleskop Service (Germany), Sky Optic (France), Antares (Canada), Astronz (New Zealand), and more than a dozen more brands too many to name. GSO is known for their high consistency in quality control, low defect rate, and their Taiwanese-based manufacturing scores closer to Japan in quality than other telescope manufacturers which mostly manfacture thier scopes in Mainland China. Give these telescopes a try - you will not be disappointed!
With these adapters, you can install your mount onto the sturdy yet portable iOptron Tri-pier.
Tri-pier Adapter for Astro-Physics 400/600E/Mach1GOTO (#8036-AP)
Note: Due to the payload limitation of the Tri-Pier, this adapter/Tri-pier combination is not designed for CEM120 with heavier payload. Use at your own risk. This adapter can be modified to mount a CEM120 onto your own pier.
ASI2600MC Pro uses Sony’s latest back-illuminated IMX571 APS-C format native 16-bit ADC sensor. It has an ultra-high 14 stops dynamic range, ultra-low 1.0e readout noise and an innovative breakthrough resulting in zero amp-glow. It is a camera born from the appeal of astrophotography lovers.
Optolong L-eXtreme Clip Filter for Nikon-Z Cameras
Take light pollution reduction and deep sky object isolation to the extreme with your Nikon Z camera and this clip-in filter from Optolong! Designed to sit just inside your photography camera, this filter from Optolong can give your camera a boost in both camera lens and dedicated telescope setups. If pushing your deep sky astrophotography setup to the limit is your goal, then the Optolong L-eXtreme Dual Band Light Pollution Nikon Z Clip-In Filter is for you!
The Optolong L-eXtreme Dual Band Light Pollution Nikon Z Clip-In Filter is a dual narrowband filter designed to enhance your views of deep sky objects. With 7nm bandpasses and above 90% transmission on both the Ha and OIII wavelengths, this filter will make emission nebulae in particular 'pop' as light pollution, skyglow, and all other visible wavelengths are aggressively blocked — an effect especially apparent on astro modified cameras that have an enhanced view of the Ha wavelength! When installed in your Nikon Z camera the rest of the night sky will fall away, leaving the awe-inspiring faint nebulosity and detail of these incredible deep sky objects. Honing your Nikon Z's sensor in on these details has been made simple with this clip-in design, which slots into the camera body between a compatible lens or a dedicated telescope imaging train — no permanent modification required! This easily reversible astrophotography upgrade allows you to chase the wonder of nebulae one moment, and then quickly remove the filter to image incredible broadband targets next session (or even mid session)!
This is my 3rd order with Thai Excite and also did not disappoint at all once again. After having purchased the Gran Turismo 71II was it time for a more wider scope and selected the Redcat 51 III WIFD. Communication went smooth and the delivery just as planned.
